Kansans for Life Federal Political Action Committee Endorses U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate

Kansans For Life Federal Political Action Committee (KFL PAC) is today announcing their endorsement of U.S. Representative Todd Tiahrt for  the U.S. Senate. 

Rep. Tiahrt, of Wichita, has served seven consecutive terms, a total of fourteen years, as the United States Representative from the 4th Congressional District in Kansas.

Rep. Tiahart has a 100% pro-life voting record, both as a U.S. Representative and as a Kansas state senator prior to that. 

Equally important to Rep. Tiahrt’s voting record is his depth of knowledge, experience and proven leadership on these and related issues.  The KFL Federal PAC believes it is especially important for the next U.S. Senator from Kansas to possess these qualities given the current administration's determination to remove any and all federal and state regulation of abortion.  This includes embryo-destructive stem cell research, as well as their support for policies favoring the rationing of health care. 

As a representative of the Wichita area for nearly 20 years, Rep. Tiahrt is more aware and more knowledgeable than most in Congress when it comes to "life issues." 
 

 Rep. Tiahrt understands the issues of embryonic stem cell research and cloning.  He believes destructive embryonic experimentation is not only immoral, it is unnecessary given the continued success of adult stem cell therapies, and new discoveries which allow simple human skin cells to be manipulated through an ethical process into mimicking the regenerative properties of embryonic cells.

Rep. Tiahrt is the author and sponsor of the 1999 “Tiahrt Amendment” to the Global Health and Child Survival Act (Public Law 111-8/HR 1105, Division H, Title III), now in it's tenth year, which protects women and unborn children from exploitation, and in so doing, protects the integrity of American tax dollars.

 

 

The Tiahrt Amendment’s purpose is to “reduce reliance on abortion in developing nations” by insuring that tax-funded international family planning projects and sterilizations: CANNOT use quotas, incentives, bribes, gratuities, or financial rewards, nor deny any benefit, including access to health care, as a consequence of any individual's decision not to accept family planning services, and that they MUST provide comprehensible information on the health benefits and risks of methods chosen, and insure experimental contraceptive drugs, devices and medical procedures cannot be given unless participants freely chose them after being advised of their potential risks and benefits.

 

His effort to pass and keep the Tiahrt Amendment in place these ten years exemplifies Rep. Tiahrt’s reputation for fighting for what he believes in, and in standing by his principles. 

He has been effective as a member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, and we believe he will be even more effective as a U.S. Senator. 

 

 

In Congress Todd Tiahrt has led or joined in efforts to:

 

  ·      Fight tax-payer funding of abortions here and abroad
 

  ·     Protect the conscience rights of doctors and health care workers
 

  ·     Oppose funding destructive embryonic stem cell experimentation
 

  ·     Support life-saving adult and umbilical cord stem cell research
 

  ·     Ban partial-birth abortion

  ·     Support parental notification/consent abortion laws  

  ·     Support unborn victims of violence laws: “Laci and Conner’s Law”

  ·     Defend Terri Schiavo’s right to life

  ·     Establish adoption tax credits

  ·     Allow older Americans to spend their own money for access to Medicare-rationed prescription drugs 

  ·     Support laws to deny Medicare bureaucrats the ability to impose ration-causing price controls
 

 ·     Support child custody protection laws which disallows a minor from being taken across state lines for an abortion without proper parental notice/consent

 

Rep. Tiahrt has addressed the rally which proceeds the annual January 22nd March for Life in Washington D.C. virtually every year since his election in 1994.  He and his wife Vicki are also regular attendees at numerous Kansans For Life events, banquets, rallies, etc.

 

Todd Tiahrt has been recognized for his pro-life/pro-family efforts by the Family Research Council in 2003, 2005 & 2008 as a recipient of the “True Blue” award. 

 

Todd Tiahrt is the candidate who through his record and proven leadership best exempfies the majority views of his fellow Kansans on social issues, which polls show not only Kansans, but a majority of Americans, are increasingly concerned about. (In May, Gallup and 3 other national polling organizations found, for the first time, that more Americans identify themselves as pro-life, than pro-choice.)

 

The Kansans for Life Political Action Committee wholeheartedly and without reservation endorses Rep. Todd Tiahrt as the next United States Senator from the great state of Kansas.
